A UKAS accredited veterinary laboratory, that initially traded as London Veterinary Diagnostics (1996 -2005). Since the incorporation of Compton Paddock Laboratories in 2005 it has  traded as Lab Services Ltd

Philosophy LSL is a veterinary laboratory dedicated to providing the highest quality laboratory service, with well qualified, highly trained staff using the latest instrumentation. By listening to the demands of the veterinary professionals we serve LSL offers an exceptional level of personal care and support.

In November 2010 Lab Services gained UKAS accreditation to BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005.  In September 2014  that list of accredited tests was extended by UKAS. Accreditation as a testing laboratory confirms our technical competence and is proof of our desire to constantly improve the quality and reliability of our service.

  • To supply a complete service for Haematology, Biochemistry, Endocrinology, Microbiology, Cytology, & Histology.
  • To ensure a reliable service we have two biochemistry and haematology analysers to virtually eliminate reporting delays due to instrument failure.
  • LSL profiles have been chosen to meet the demands of the majority of clinicians
  • Lab Services Ltd undertakes both internal quality control and is a member of external quality control schemes (NEQAS & Randox) to ensure result quality.
  • The majority of our reports have no pathologist’s comment, but do include general test related comments where appropriate. When the results and clinical details indicate that a comment would be useful a comment is included.  Our clients can request a comment (just tick the box on the request form) or discuss any case with a pathologist at no extra charge
  • Our pathologists are experienced in legal procedures and can provide expert advice and representation to clients.

Clinical Director
Dr. Maurice Allen, DVSC, PhD, MSc, MRCVS, ECVPath, FRCPath, FBIAC – Dr Allen has a life time experience in the use of laboratory aids to diagnosis, with over 200 scientific publications, book chapters and articles to his credit.
Maurice is an examiner for the Royal College of Pathologists.


Dr. Jeremy Morgan MA, VetMB, PhD, MRCVS – Jeremy has worked as a veterinary microbiologist in both clinical and research settings for over 30 years.  He has an MSc in diagnostic veterinary pathology and a PhD in microbiology.  He has worked as a consultant for Compton Paddock Laboratories and now Lab Services Ltd for over 20 years.  He has a particular interest in post mortem examinations and use of microbiological techniques for investigation of clinical problems in companion animals.  Jeremy also advises on aspects of Quality Control, and was responsible for implementing the programme that led to our successful UKAS accreditation.

Dr. Alina Bodnariu, DVM, MSc, PhD, MRCVS – Alina gained her qualifications in Romania, and at the Royal Dick Veterinary School in Edinburgh, before joining Lab Services she worked for a veterinary group in Surrey. Alina is currently studying part time course at the R.V. C. for her FRCPath

Roy McKinney, Roy has been with Lab Services Ltd since it’s formation in 1996 he has 40 years experience in medical and veterinary laboratories, has managed large laboratories with up to 30 technicians in the U.K., Middle East, and Germany.

Data Management
Laboratory computing by DTE Systems Ltd with all main instruments connected “on-line.” Sample bar-codes, identify the samples and tests requested, significantly reducing the possibility of sample I.D. errors. Finished reports are E-mailed or faxed directly from the system.

  • We have strict programme of internal quality control and participate in external quality control schemes (NEQAS & Randox)
  • We offer courier collection to most parts of London within the M25 please telephone for details
  • We will supply, reply paid bags, sample tubes, swabs and request forms free of charge on request.
  • We offer discounts on certain tests to users of VetScan biochemistry and haematology analysers
  • We will customise profiles on request
